Technology for teaching and learning 2 (TTL 2)
Overview
Technology for Teaching and Learning 2 (TTL 2) is "a 3-unit course which will focus on the application, design, production, utilization, and evaluation of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) materials for teaching and learning in particular subject specializations and other related programs aligned to the K to 12."
The course pack for TTL 2 will have learners create student work that reflects the integration of ICT with their particular subject specializations.
“Challenge Library,” “Tool Inventory”, and “EdTech Design Challenge” were projects specifically designed to respond to learning outcomes in TTL-2. Project parameters and rubrics can be modified if the instructor wishes to either narrow down or expand the scope of learning outcomes a project will address.
TTL 2 Course Packs
Challenge Library
Learning Outcomes
TTL 2-1 - Use ICT to develop 21st Century Skills: Information, Media and Technology Skills, Learning and Innovation Skills, Life and Career Skills, and Effective Communication Skills.
TTL 2-2 - Develop project- and problem-based, collaborative plans and activities in various subject areas using technology tools.
What will their project look like?
A digital library that contains resources about real world challenges that their area of specialization can contribute solutions to. The real world challenges are chosen by the students based on their context and the specific topic discussed in TTL 2.
The digital library will be hosted on the student’s chosen platform that suits their specific context and needs such as: ability, access, language, modality, etc. The resources in the digital library must be credible and properly referenced.
Each real world challenge contains a short write up on why the student thinks this challenge is important and how ICT may be used to address this challenge.
EdTech Design Challenge
Learning Outcomes
TTL 2-1 - Use ICT to develop 21st Century Skills: Information, Media and Technology Skills, Learning and Innovation Skills, Life and Career Skills, and Effective Communication Skills.
TTL 2-2 - Develop project- and problem-based, collaborative plans and activities in various subject areas using technology tools.
TTL 2-3 - Use open-ended tools (such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and authoring tools) to support the development of Problem-based or project based or collaborative activities in subject-specific application.
TTL 2-4 - Produce learning resources using technology tools in various subject areas.
TTL 2-5 - Evaluate the relevance and appropriateness of ICT resources based on the learning context.
TTL 2-6 - Use technology tools to collaborate and share resources among communities of practice.
What will their project look like?
An EdTech tool, system, or process that may be useful in their specialization. A prototype is a draft version of a product or a feature that allows designers to test their assumptions about a user’s needs and experience before investing time and effort into the finished product.
Tool Inventory
Learning Outcomes
TTL 2-3 - Use open-ended tools (such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and authoring tools) to support the development of Problem-based or project based or collaborative activities in subject-specific application.
TTL 2-4 - Produce learning resources using technology tools in various subject areas.
TTL 2-5 - Evaluate the relevance and appropriateness of ICT resources based on the learning context.
What will their project look like?
A repository of ICT resources which educators may use to enhance the teaching and learning process in their area/field of specialization.
